Red wine here for a good time

Blaufränkish: Say that five times and reward yourself with this glass of wine. It’s the grape behind A Seaworthy Tale, a medium-bodied, dry red with blackberry bramble, earth, pepper, and a divine structure. This fascinating grape has become a star figure of Central European wine, and many have likened it to bright Pinot Noir and spicy Syrah. This is the wine for the curious spirit, but what it does best is help you decompress from a long week, preferably with friends on a porch, under a blanket.

Hungarian wine with a royal past

If this were the 1900s, Hungarian wine would be what all the influencers were drinking. Hungarian wine was highly coveted, deeply associated with royalty, and drinking the wine was basically a message to the rest of the world that you were someone important. Today, we still love our Hungarian wine, but it’s (luckily) available to all of us to drink. Not that you aren’t important, we’re just saying: everybody can agree on the beauty of Hungarian wine. Drink it at your finest dinner or in your pajamas, we don’t care.

What food goes with this?

It can be a tricky question and we’re here with your answer. A Seaworthy Tale has ripe tannins and peppery flavors, so give it food with some gusto and pepper notes too. Try it with rack of lamb, bratwurst, chicken schnitzel, or loaded potatoes. Whatever you do, don’t hold back on the pepper and don’t be afraid of a little char.
