A dry white wine with a story to tell

An elegant, dry white wine with a bouquet of peach, apricot, grass, and hawthorne is the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Whether you’re catching up with a friend or listening to music with a plate of cheddar and prosciutto, Stacks & Stones is a harmonious fit. Your wine was made with a rare grape from Northern Italy called Famoso, meaning “famous” in Italy. The irony isn’t lost on us—like a rare vinyl record lost in history, the two remaining Famoso vines in the entire world were stumbled upon by winemakers in the early 2000s, and lucky for Famoso, were revived out of a love for native, rare grapes.

Leave it to Italy to make a great wine

Along the Po River in Northwestern Italy, the Famoso grapevines grow on the plains and hillsides. Marl and sandstone soils give them perfume and structure, and vines are often trained low to the ground, a technique introduced to the area by the Greeks. Turns out, they were onto something because to this day, winemakers agree that growing their grapes closer to the ground gives them a special quality that you can actually taste in the wines.

Get yourself some aromatic food, while you’re at it

Famoso brings the aromatics to the table, why not bring some more? You can’t have enough when building a sensory experience like wine and food. Roll up some shrimp spring rolls, have Moroccan chicken tagine, or decorate purple potatoes with your favorite herbs. For charcuterie, go for cheeses with herbal or floral rubs. Yum!
